Oh My! Omar

This is a track Omar S remixed by Gunnar Wendel on the FXHE label. I've been listening to this a bit, a pretty good time.

This next number is a mix I made to entertain myself whilst down the beach. It's all doof doof music from the last couple of months that I've been listening to, some of it's new, old, cheesey or reminds me of playing car racing games on playtation when i was a kid, I used to hate that music.

If you can't be bothered listening to 50 mins of doof doof then listen to this song, it's the last song on the mix, and again it's by one of Detroit's finest, Alex Omar Smith, released this year. I've been thrashing this.

Lastly, something non doof doof, given it's the season for mushroom risotto I thought I'd post up another mix from last summer - i think, has some pretty easy going tunes, very audibly pleasing I've found when in a astral state of mind...

Is It All Over My Face (Unreleased Version)

This is off a Mancuso Loft boxset.
It's a pretty cool track.
Longer, mellower, with a flute!

Mediafire here

Is this the track you were telling me about a few weeks ago Will?

Boogie -> proto-House

Vach - in response to that Electric Mind track (killer):

i love this shit. claudio simonetti was a member of Goblin, the Italo prog rock band famously sampled by Justice a few years back.

This second track below I got into through the first Horse Meat Disco compilation on strut. Really great bridge from disco into house music. Perfectly produced, it just builds so damn well. This track was made with the dancefloor and the DJ in mind. Perfect for a loooooong mix.

As it turns out, I just found a mini promo mix for the third compilation for HMD. Check it:

Classic

This song is amazing. Recognise.

THE SECRET MUSEUM OF MANKIND

The Secret Museum of Mankind
This was a book released in the 50's (?) and was sold in the back of comic books (think x-ray specs etc.) as "female beauty around the world". See also: "Weirdest people on earth", "the strangest customs", "magic and mystery in queer lands where the foot of white man has rarely tread".

Racism aside, this is an amazing collection of ethnic/world/tribal/indigenous photography which covers America, Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Some of the buildings, technology, costumes and instruments are just wild. I got a copy in the mail the other day, if anyone's interested, they're grippable on ebay for around $15.

Keeping in the theme, this is an incredible ethnic/world/traditional/field music mix.
Done by Rob Sevier from the Numero Group. Some heavy titles in there. It would be good for the next Deep Massage Therapy. He's got another mix on that Bird & Whale site, probably not as good, but does include the deep Bahrain Pearl Divers record (which is in the mail).
Rob Sevier- Danzas Y Cantos

I've got a few other ethnic/field/traditional albums if anyone wants me to put them up.

Dancing Without Girls

DJ Harvey 6 hour set tonight (5am-11am) at Panorama Bar. It's Mardi Gras equivalent this weekend. Very appropriate night to dance without girls. Oh yeah a Steffi's playing a 5 hour set before him. so deep.

Also, 3rd track on mix is a little slice of gold from the P.A.M Pizza and Mezze mix we all love so much. Gotsta keep diggin'...

Miami

Joel Ford of Tigercity and Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never team up,

If you hadn't heard their stuff under the name Games this would make little sense,

Showing a complete commitment to 1980's synth pop, to the point of recording this album at the studio of Jan Hammer (what a name!), who composed the Miami Vice theme.

Get ya UK swag on..

Massive tune. When that acappella hits BOOM. I've heard a few tracks in the past from this dude, and this brings it all together perfectly. If this is the direction that UK bass is moving then I'm gonna have to start listening to more bass/dub-step

Straight nasty sounding mutherfuka from the UK. This mix-tape is produced by man of the moment Lex Luger (solely responsible for the recent revival of crunk bangers in the USA gangster/stoner rap scene - Woka Flocka Flame/36 Mafia affiliates like Juicy J and DJ Paul). Woka starts this tune, but is barely memorable when next to to Biggs voice. Worth checkin his mix tape - Take Your Hats Off.

Sofrito Specials

Hey fellas, thought you might get into this. Boss as hell.

Find out more about Sofrito and hear some mixes here. I've got some more shit on vinyl too.

Buckets o' love,

Pete.

Babe

I used to associate Kate Cebrano with leopard print, larger ladies underwear. Now, thanks to Kuey, i have been sent down a 1984 Kate rabbit hole. Check this live footage from Billboard.

Babe. Babe. Babe.

And she's only 18.

Mix to get you through the afternoon

I've already posted about John Morales below, but I think this is worth sharing also. It's a promo mix of Salsoul tracks put together in 1980. As John says:

"Salsoul Listening Party 10-25-1980 ..... Put this together for a Salsoul listening party using only a turntable, Cassette and and funky tape deck almost all were edit mixes except for a few cassette and Turntable mixes recorded on my tape Deck..enjoy I decided to leave all my mixes as it , didn't fix or repair any bad mixes or edits this is how it was, Raw and real.. ol-school style .... Thanks to Salsoul for letting me mix all those great records..."

Some pretty jarring cuts (at the beggining especially), but the tracks are solid gold. The best of disco music.

Lazy Sunday Morning Mix

Another killa TestPressing Mix.

Some of you might of heard some of Moonboots Balearic and disco mixes.

This one's a bit different.

A winner, soft rock dad style, folk and soul oddities, perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.

Generally it's a mix from a disco DJ that even Dave will like.

Enjoy this one
